Not Detecting Updated Version

It seems like for a litt while now if I hit to check for a new version, it keeps saying it's up to date. For an example, I had the previous version 6.20 installed, and says it's up to date. I actually had to go on the site to see it's up to 6.21 now. Anyone else having issues when checking for updates?

Just wanted to report this is still happening. I had version 6.21.10918 installed and had the program check for updates internally today, and it says it's the newest version of the program (see screenshot, attached). Yet, when I go on the site, I see 6.22.10977 was released and had to upgrade via the site.

What windows version?

Plus what AV/Firewalls are you using? (something might be blocking your connection to the update server).

I have the most up to date Windows 11. Also, we per my AV, I"m using Sophos Home. What I haven't had an issue up until recently, what's odd. I know it was working fine.

My first suspect would be the Sophos.

When there is a new CCleaner Update if 'Check for Updates' in CCleaner isn't seeing it then I would try disabling Sophos temporarilily and then do the CCleaner Update check.

In the meantime I would check that your Sophos Home is up to date.

Note that some AV's will say that they are up to date when there is in fact a newer version. Those AV's are telling you that their definitions are up to date for that version, not that the version is up to date.

So with an AV as well as checking within the AV itself, it's best to check on the Av's website.

I do note that Sophos Home for Windows doesn't seem to have had a version update since July 2023: https://support.home.sophos.com/hc/en-us/sections/360000192343-Release-Notes

Windows 11 has had a feature update to version 23H2 since then, and I'm wondering if it was after updating to 23H2 that the issue started for you?

Another option you could try would be to do a total reinstall of CCleaner.

Make a note of your settings in CCleaner (and licence key if you have Pro), uninstall your current CCleaner and then delete the CCleaner folder C:\Program Files\CCleaner, 'Restart' your computer, and then download/reinstall CCleaner Free from the Builds page: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

Once reinstalled you will have to put your settings back, and enter your key to re-register it as Pro again.

Of course you are not going to know if it fixed your issue until the next CCleaner update is released, but if you do that then at least you will know that you have a totally fresh CCleaner.

Thanks nukecad,

I'll try/look into those possible solutions and fixes probably come later this week when I have some time, appreciate it.
