I ran the addons update and it downloaded a "compatibility update" for Noscript. Anybody know what this is?
After reading about the possibility of downloading malware addons (Andrew K's Optimixe XP website), I am a little paranoid.

I use to get that with Adblock Plus, but it went away on it's own.
Meh, NoScript is a very popular add-on and one which is recommended by Mozilla. I doubt it has any malware in it. Just make sure you download everything from official sites.

I don't think you need worry about getting malware through just updating trusted extensions, its installing new/unknown ones in the first place that you should be careful of. And I take alot of that Firefox myths page you referred to with a large pinch of salt. Although that site has some good stuff on it, some is just a bit OTT and silly.
