Previous versions of CCleaner seemed to work fine but 3.07.1457 will run one and only one time without restarting the computer. It locks up at 3% of scan and then I have to use Task Manager to TRY to shut it down. More often than not, only a hard re-boot will make it available again. I have uninstalled it, removed all files related to CCleaner and re-installed. I even tried to go back to a previous version but whatever is broken is now broken for all uses of CCleaner (after one use). I am runnning a desktop with XP SP3, IE8 & Norton Internet Security (all updated), have all the latest updates from MS as to its programs and security patches. I like CCleaner but can't continue to be frustrated by this. Thinking that it might have malware, I also have run additional malware exams using other programs (MalwareBytes, TrendMicro, etc.) but no malware seems to be resident.
If you run ccleaner in safe mode and then reboot what happens then?
Have you tried (as troubleshooting) unticking everything and re-ticking one block at a time. (you can restore default ticks by right-clicking on the blue writing in left-hand side eg. for system, and choosing restore default state) May take up a wee bit of time but it would be great to know what is causing it.

It appears to be the History section. All others seem to be able to do their jobs.
Do you mean Internet Explorer history being ticked seems to cause the lockup?
If you untick IE history everything works okay?

Yes. That seems to be the one feature that just goes off to Never Never Land.

Yes. That is correct? Is there a solution that makes it go away?
Not that I know of at the moment.
However the devs read all threads and so will be aware of this.
Same problem after installing newest version. It fails at the time you clean up the temporary internet files (run: %temp%). Windows XP pro, V: 5.1 2600, SP 3.

And the newest version is ? ? ? ?
I consider it much better to ALWAYS stipulate the precise version string,
because "newest version" will always cast a slur upon every future release of CCleaner,
and I have been infuriated when searching for a cure to a Security application I found on a forum :-
the problem I was facing ; and
the cure for that problem ; and
this applied to "Latest version" but no means of determining if what was latest at that time was what I was currently using.

Especially since this Thread was opened in regards to the current iteration of "the newest version" your post doesn't add information.
That said, I spefically tested this, I opened my temporary internet files folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
There were 52 files in that folder
I ran ONLY the temporary Internet Files section of ccleaner
it told me 52 files were deleted
I looked at the folder
ALL of those files were deleted
I'm not sure that the bug is in the program
I think you need to try deleting temporary internet files from IE then see if ccleaner still has the issue.
Also your loud (as in silly use of added color, font and size) does not have the same issue as the Original poster. If you are continuing to have issue you need to make your own thread. . . and do so without the unneeded font atributes. . . i.e. just type the question, we'll read it and more likely to help without the ugly "look at me look at me"
