On my old xp machine the monitor was small and old and I didn't want to spend money on a new one. Yesterday went to the sales and got one for a great price!! It's a 1920 x 1080 last of the line.
Things I have found out using xp and a big (to me) monitor.
Spider solitaire is unplayable, the cards are too small. (I know Corona will laugh at this) The sizes can be altered in vista and win7 but not xp. So I will have to play it on my Win 7 laptop.
Had to find out how to alter desktop icon sizes and web based toolbar font sizes. I still have Outlook Express on the XP machine and after the alterations I can open it and the fonts are now readable, however when I press send/recieve the litlle box which appears showing you the download of the emails and says what it is doing is still the original small size!!
Opera is great for altering webpages... totally okay with this. Even IE8 does well.
Unless thats a very large monitor Hazel I would not be able to work at that resolution. Why not change it to give your self a larger image. These are the usual resolutions to screen size
You changed a 16:9 monitor to a 16:10 resoution. D:.
I have been working off of my 15.6" laptop screen at 1366x768 for the past three weeks, can't wait to get back to my 24" 1920x1080 babies back in my dorm !
With XP, I'm using what I would describe as a 16-9 screen, which displays everything correctly.
I've also got a larger monitor from my sons old desktop which is more or less square (4-3), and using it with my XP looks awful.
My daughter has a notebook with a widescreen display, which looks like a 16-9 display stretched to a widescreen one, and that doesn't look very good. I've dabbled very briefly in changing the display settings, but I can't get anything to look right with either the spare 4-3 one or my daughters widescreen.
