My Friend Kyle

My buddy Kyle bought a used computer for $100. In my opinion he got ripped off. Here's what he got:

15 flat screen crt monitor

amd duron 750

512 mb ram

cdr burner

dvd rom

30 gig hdd

Now the problems: One of the memory sticks was bad and the other one is bad too but runs.

I'm running MEMTEST86 on it now, for the last 3hr 53mins.

The hdd has 11 mb of bad sectors on it. I still have yet to run spinrite on it to really assess the damage to the hdd. All in all he wanted it for school and internet. There is no freaking way he can use this system for internet. But, then again all he does is MYSPACE anyways! Worse case scenerio he can use the left over components for spares.

Cheers,

It could turn out to be one of those instances where buying one of those bargain PC's for $299-$499 in the long run could actually be cheaper than fixing what he bought. If where he bought it has a return offer that would be my suggestion.

If the memory and the disk wouldn't be bad, then 100$ for a computer wouldn't be so bad, if he could write documents for school on it, and surf Internet and visit his dumb MySpace.

LOL! I have one but don't use it. Only reason is if someone wanted to find me. Long lost friends, if you know what you mean.
