I’m having the same problem. Why doesn’t CCleaner address this problem?
Are you running v6.39 and it’s asking you to install v7?
If so then I’d suggest declining the update, and going to Options>Updates to untick Automatic Updating.
Then have a good read of the recent posts here.

Response to Nukecad:
The thing is that I can’t open my Ccleaner at all. When I click on it it opens to install, and immediately starts installing. I went to the shortcut and open properties and it shows Ccleaner 64. This is strange because, all versions I see mentioned around here are totally different. Like 6.39 or 7.

64 bits as opposed to 32bits that CCleaner.exe is. been like that for decades. when you run CCleaner.exe on a 64bit machine (read nearly all modern pcs) it hands over to CCleaner64.exe
The temp_ccupdate folder contains the installer for the new version. When you start CCleaner, it apparently finds that folder and runs the installer that is inside of it. Try to delete the folder and start CCleaner again, it should start normally. Chances are that if you have auto updates enabled, CCleaner will create that folder again. In that case, if you don’t want update to CCleaner 7, disable auto updates and remove the folder again.
Thanks Nergal. Don’t know how I couldn’t figure that out. I just figured it was the version. Thanks for explaining
So, I removed the temp_ccupdate folder, but nothing changed.
I don’t know what version is trying to install. The question now is… Should I just let it install and see what happens?
Thanks,
What happens if you use the ‘X’ to close that ‘Welcome’ window rather than clicking on install?
If using the ‘X’ as above just closes CCleaner altogether then why not? TBH it doesn’t look as if you can do anything else at this stage.
You can always roll back to v6.39 if you want/need to:
Hi, when I click the X on the Welcome page, it just goes to the question: You really want to stop the installation?
What really stops me from installing is that it doesn’t tell what is it that its going to install. But, I will let it install then.
Thanks
I let it install, and went to v7. I installed 6.3. Forgot to close the auto update, and it started to do the same thing again. I uninstalled, reinstalled, unchecked the auto update. Now it seems to be working OK so far.
Thanks all for your help.
