i ran CCleaner and noticed that there was some twain and twunk .MTX files in temp folder. what are those files and what creates them. i defraged HD with Diskeeper 10 just before running CCleaner.
They're from your printer or scanner and will periodically get re-created. They're just temporary junk files and there's nothing to worry about.
i don't have printer or scanner.
.mtx is probably Adobe Atmosphere but could also be any of a number of other apps. See FILExt, a useful site.
i think it must be this Temporary File often used by a Browser or TWAIN Device. what is TWAIN Device? can Diskeeper 10 create those files? i'm just curious...
Google is your friend.
There is a site called filext.com that has info about different file extensions.
don't give me any f*ckin Google links,i always search with Google before posting any topics. and if don't find enough/any info with that, then i post. and BTW,read previous messages, that link was already gaved.
what is TWAIN Device?
TWAIN is a standard protocol for communication between imaging devices and software apps. You said you didn't have a scanner ... how about a digital camera?
nope.
I read (on google!) that the MTX virus affects .DLLs in temp files.
Do you have photoshop?
no i don't.
Okay.
Did your computer come with any bundled software? ( the dregs now!)
EDIT. Just found out that these are also installed by microsoft in operating systems for quite a while now under the banner of twain data source manager modules to allow devices to work.
