MS Word - Figuring out Fonts in Word Art

Hi everyone,

About a year ago, I download some free fonts (don't worry, it's nothing to do with viruses). I used those fonts in a word document at that time (The fonts were used in word art). I saved the document, but did not embed the fonts into the document.

A few days ago, I accidentally deleted the downloaded fonts from my system. I have no backups of the fonts and forget what the fonts were called as well as were I found them. The word art in the word document no longer displays the correct fonts, because the fonts are no longer on my computer. When I go to edit the text in the word art dialog box, the name of the font isn't there. There is only a blank space with no font name in it. I have tried Recuva (nice program by the way) and other similar programs with no luck. I know that the word art knows what font it needs, and if it can't find the font, it uses a "similar" font.

Is there anyway to figure out what font the word art is looking for so that I can find them on the Internet?

(I'm using Windows XP w/ SP2 and MS Office Pro 2007.)

Thanks!

Joe

Using a System Restore point that was saved before you deleted the font "may" restore it. Then again it may not.

Also opening the document (.doc or .rtf) in a Hex Viewer (such as the one in IrfanView) may reveal the name of the font embedded in the garbled display of text.

Thanks for the suggestion. :D Unfortunately, I had no luck :(

The document isn't really all that important anyway...

Thanks again!

Joe

Found the font! It was Calligrapher.
