Interesting... I thought well and my conclusion is that Microsoft folks must be stupid.
Adding the uninstaller links in the Start Menu makes it much more easier to ignorant users to find how to uninstall the software.
And there's no risk for accidentally uninstalling since it asks you to confirm if you want to uninstall either by an assistant or a little confirm dialog.
I think they just want to unify it so people learn to go to programs and features to uninstall.
I use Revo Uninstaller for everything now - no matter what it is.
