I have a JVC hard drive video camera that crashed and apparently erased the file directory. We haven't used it since and I am pretty sure all the files are there. Unfortunately, JVC uses a file type known as .mod which as far as I can tell is an unusual file type that most recovery programs don't recognize. I downloaded the free version of Recuva and after two scans the files showed up!! However, when I tried to recover just 3 of them the program froze. I tried it again and now the files don't show up. Does anyone know a way to use Recuva or any other software to recover these files? I am using Recuva on a Mac using Parallels as an emulator for Windows XP but I have access to a regular Windows computer if that is an issue. These movies are pretty important to my family and I would really like to get them back. Thanks for any help.

The first rule for recovering files is to ensure that nothing is written to the partition/device that has those lost files,

otherwise the lost files may be damaged further.

Whatever you did, it seems that damage has been done.

I suggest you explain exactly what you have done, and some one who knows more than I may be able to help.
