Microsoft's Ultimate Steal Question

So, I am going to college in the fall and wanted to purchase MS Office 2007. I heard about the Ultimate Steal and decided to check it out. This is an excerpt from the Terms and Conditions:

Promotion Eligibility:

This offer is good only to eligible students who possess a valid email address at an educational institution geographically located in the United States. This offer is non-transferable. Limit one purchase per eligible student.

The following conditions serve to define student eligibility for the Promotion:

1.

Individual must possess a valid e-mail address at a U.S. educational institution which contains the domain suffix .edu; AND

2.

Individual must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request.

Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the full retail cost of the software ($679).

Note the phrasing " a U.S. educational institution" meaning that the institution in stipulation one does not necessarily have to be the same institution as in stipulation two. I do already have my college email address that ends in .edu and I am currently enrolled in high school (a valid U.S. educational institution) with at least 0.5 course credit. Since I have the college email address, my reasoning wouldn't really matter, but the Terms and Conditions also say that Microsoft may contact me if I do purchase it, which may or may not end up in me paying the full retail cost of the software.

So, I have two questions:

1. Do you think my reasoning is valid?

2. For people who have purchased the Ultimate Steal and other related software, does Microsoft contact you to verify information?

Thanks!

Afraid I cannot answer you question as I am UK based and slightly above school age (no remarks here from forum members  )

So while you wait for someone to chip in you may like a look here

Ah, so you are 22 and a half  ....

Anyway, thanks for the link. I've seen that offer before, but I don't really have any use for any of the software. Wish I did...

When I bought it all they did was send me the key through my college email. I haven't had any kind of questioning from MS.

I dont think it should be a problem.
