Microsoft plans to make its Internet Explorer 8 browser available on Thursday, along with a company-commissioned report claiming IE8 is more secure against malware than rival browsers from Mozilla and Google.
Users will be able to download IE8 in 25 languages at 12:00 noon Eastern Daylight Time on Thursday from Microsoft's IE Web site and its online download center.
I had one heck of a time getting it to download and even called Microsoft support and he was stumped so I completely disabled Avira AntiVir and was able to download and install it.
What else to do on a breezy, Cloudy cool day in Canada EH!
I'm sure going to let the Avira AntiVir folks know that the Version 9 update is working great
I'm using it right now at this moment, and I'm actually rather disgusted with it. I'll play around in it for a very short time before removing it and returning to IE7.
It's so damned slow for which I just can't emphasize that anti-sentiment enough. It's super slow to launch and even slow to load websites which was a major gripe of mine in IE7, and now IE8 continues the disgustingly slow tradition.
I've also noticed some other anomalies immediately after installation and the required system restart, some programs are now taking two to three times longer to launch which isn't something I expected at all, and I surely won't accept that either.
For IE to be called "the worlds most popular browser" is a complete utter joke. If this thing were an injured animal someone would put it out of its misery, and mine. Back to Firefox I happily go with much haste!

I'm puzzled as even on my old XP Home system it starts and works about the same as IE7 did?

It is only 2.4GHZ P4 with 512MB RAM
My system is a 3.20GHZ P4 w/Multi-Threading and 1.0GB RAM , and the slowdown it caused multiple programs was just the first issue. Using the browser itself was no joy, so I'm back to IE7 which I'll keep updated until they no longer supply updates for it, then I may just remove IE from the system.
WTF? Installed IE8 today, and after I installed and restarted, computer starts soo slow? It loads half of my processes first, and then when NOD32 loads, the rest of my processes have been loaded. IE 8 takes a HUGE amount of time to start up too! Any help on fixing this please?
