I bought a new computer recently with a free trial of Macafee internet security already on the computer.
The free trial period has ended and I do not wish to pay for Macafee internet security.
I want to use the removal tool but I am not clear about what constitutes my user account email and password which is necessary for the process of removal.
For someone with limited knowledge I feel MacAfee help does not explain this clearly.
You do not need to enter an email address or password to remove McAfee, you only need to do that if you have registered it and want to reinstall it again.
First uninstall it in Program and features or using CCleaner uninstall area.
Then you can if you wish use the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool availabe under item 2 on the page here
Highlight McAfee in list and press uninstall button on right of page.
Do this first and make sure you reboot after the uninstall is finished..
As regards asking for an email address I never have been on machines I've uninstalled it from.
Navigate to the folder where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe.
When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.
At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next.
At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, click Next to accept the agreement.
When prompted, type the Captcha information, which is case-sensitive, to validate to application security, and then click Next.
If you have Family Protection installed, type your Administrator user name and password and click Next.
If you cannot authenticate, follow the on-screen instructions to obtain an uninstall code. If you do not have Family Protection installed, you will not receive this authentication prompt.
When you see the message CleanUp Successful, restart your computer. Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until after the restart.
Hi, can someone tell me if i can delete all the files that seem double after the double file searcher has shown the results or do i have to keep 1 of the results shown of each checked file. And if yes, which one is preferable...
