When I Wipe Free Space it takes ages for ccleaner to wipe the master file table free space. So in options/settings, I untick ' wipe free MFT space '. But.. regardless of this setting ccleaner always starts cleaning the MFT.

Are you using Drive Wiper to wipe free space? If so then the WFS settings in Options/Settings have no effect, and you'll get a free Wipe MFT anyway. If you're running from Cleaner then I haven't experienced this.
On a 244 Gb drive with 95 Gb used and total of 280,000 files it takes two hours to clean the free space MFT. And then 15 minutes to wipe the remaining 155gb free space.
I call that very annoying. Not using this feature anymore.
Wipe Free Space isn't something you should have the need to be using anyway unless you're planning to sell-off your computer or donate it, i.e.; when you wouldn't own the computer anymore.
