Hi there iv lost an essay and im going out of my mind at the thought of rewriting it!!
I downloaded recuva and i have found the file!! it has a green circle by it and the file says .ink....
says it is in an excillent state and not overwritten...
however i resore the file to a USB and it it becomes a 1kb file that contains nothing???
is there anything i can do seeing the file there is even more frustrating than losing it in the first place!!!!!
wil try anything!!!
My guess is that what you saw as ink with a lower case i was actually lnk with a lower case L
Fingers crossed, perhaps you access your essay via a desktop link and it is only the link that is lost.
Just possibly your essay is still in your documents somewhere,
and simply holding down the ALT key whilst dragging the essay to the desktop will create a new desktop link for you.

Where was the essay ?
On system drive C:\, or some other drive / partition ?
If on System C:\ then minimise use of your computer.
Every time Windows twitches or breathes it creates new files in "free space"
Unfortunately free space is where all deleted files live and are at risk of being overwritten.
Every time my A.V. signature database is updated another 500 MBytes of deleted files are corrupted and over-written.
