I purchased CC Cleaner7. Installed and ran several different sections. I have now lost all audio from any USB device. This includes a USB speaker I have plugged in as well as a Yeti X mic. See screenshot below. I tried a Restore All but that fails to error code 27
I’ve tried in Device Manager(uninstalled, reinstalled, scanned for hardware changes). Nothing worked. Tried Windows Update also.
I have connected several bluetooth usb (headset, etc) and those seem to work.
Setup: Acer Aspire A515-46 Windows 11 Home. Any help is appreciated. I feel dumb buying this product trying to help my laptop and now this crap happens.
That sounds as if you have ‘updated’ your Audio driver (or possibly your USB driver) to one that is not meant for your hardware.
It happens quite often to the unknowing/unwary - A newer version of a driver is most often intended for new hardware, but you have older hardware.
A newer vesrion of a driver might still work with your older hardware, or it might not.
Each time you update a driver you are taking a gamble.
What was it that you uninstalled/reinstalled ?
eg. if the Audio driver is the issue then uninstalling/reinstalling the USB drivers won’t fix it.
As well as uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers you could try opening your CCleaner, look in the Driver Updater and try the ‘+ Fix a Problem’ button to see if it saved your old audio driver and can roll it back.
If not then you will need to change the driver yourself.
