Locked files in Vista

Hi

Forgive me this is sort of a continuation of an earlier thread on the CCleaner forum but as I've just downloaded Recuva here goes:

Another prog (Directory Snoop) identifies files and strings and allows wiping of files and "clusters". Unfortunately this prog has a problem with Vista in that Vista does not allow "user-mode" programs like Directory Snoop to write to raw disk sectors unless the drive volume is locked. Drives can only be locked if there are no open files on them so this excludes the boot drive.

If this is so would not recuva have the same problem permanently erasing these clusters when the OS is Vista?

Appreciate your time.

Hi

Does no one have any ideas here?

It's a bit fundamental as this issue of locked drives and used clusters etc will affect everyone.

Believe me, download DS Snoop (trial) and search for refs-many appear in unusual locations that obviously can't be touched by CCleaner and Recuva.

Thought it was interesting that's all

Buenas Dias
