What are all the .dll files in the CCleaner Lang folder? Are they important or can they be deleted?

If you store all CC settings in the file called ""ccleaner.ini"" and you have changed the language at least once then there's an entry/line called ""Language="" (open this file with e.g. Notepad) followed by a number. You can delete every *.dll file that doesn't contain that particular number. So, for the dutch language version (""Language=1043"") I can delete all *.dll files except for ""Lang-1043.dll"" which contains the dutch translation strings.

If I only need English, how do I know which .dll number is English? I'm not following you. I have no ini folder, it just says Lang on it. That is where all the .dll files are. Example: lang-1063.dll

Nancy,

Select ""Options"", ""Advanced"" and there's a box called ""Save settings to INI file"". When ticked/selected the CC settings are saved to a file called ""ccleaner.ini"" in the application folder. There you'll find that line when you have changed the language at least once.

The default setting is English and therefore there seems to be no *.dll file for the english language. It's already in the program itself.

Hi,

Delete the language folder and your done.

As others have done, I've added the folder in options > include.

C:\Program Files\CCleaner\Lang\

Under options I chose "Include files, subfolders and the folder itself."

That way when I install a new version, I don't even need to think about it. B)

This is what was in the ini file after selecting it.

So are you saying I only need 1033 in that long list in the Lang folder or can I just delete the whole folder like someone recommended. I am confused.

That information helps. There's no ""lang-1033.dll"" file. So, then you can delete the entire ""lang"" folder, as Jamin4U has said. Because the english text is already embedded in CC.

The non-english users could get rid of the unused language files as well,

inserting in the "Include" list the C:\Program Files\CCleaner\Lang\ folder,

and in the "Exclude" list the language file in use (in my case lang-1040.dll)

In this way all the language files will be deleted, but the needed one.
