Technical Issue:

When Kamo VPN is enabled, YouTube requires signing in to access content.
This behavior does not occur when using Malwarebytes VPN or other VPN services, where YouTube can be accessed without signing in.

Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Browser: Google Chrome

  • Search engine: Yahoo (used within the browser)

Technical Question:

Is there any IP-based restriction, traffic filtering, or privacy policy in Kamo that could be causing this behavior?
Is there any recommended configuration or workaround to prevent this?

I think that what you are seeing is YouTube messing about (again) and not Kamo.

I don’t use Kamo or any VPN and for the last few weeks YT has randomly been asking me to “sign in” to watch something that I had already been in the middle of watching without signing in.
Usually if I close and reopen YT it will then let me continue watching the content without asking for a sign in.

I suspect that it’s simply YouTube trying to get people to create YT accounts.
