Internet Explorer Cookies Skipped

I've been using Ccleaner daily for years. Beginning about a week ago, after running scans with 35 passes 2 or 3 times, everything has been cleaned with the exception of this note: Internet Explorer Cookies Skipped. Why? Why after years of complete cleaning do I get this every time? Should I be concerned? Should I do anything to remedy it? Thanks.

A screenshot is attached, as if you wouldn't know what it looks like already.

what are your CC and OS versions?

changes have been made to the last few versions of CC in how it has to handle IE, which in turn has been changed by MS.

IE, and any IE related task, has to be closed.

check Task Manager for make sure.

although unconfirmed, maybe things like Defender, Skype, Live Mail and whatever other MS software there is running, may also need to be closed.

This one was bugging me tonight as well.

Looking for straggling Internet Explorer processes via SysInternals' Process Explorer, I wound up killing SearchIndexer.exe, after which point CCleaner found three cookies hiding out in:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

With that particular instance of the Windows Search process killed (temporarily, since it always restarts), those cookies were gone and I stopped seeing the 'Internet Explorer Cookies Skipped' message in CCleaner.

I like the convenience of Windows Search for finding files quickly, but I'm thinking about killing it and going with an alternative now.

nice find @Saucerpeel Narc, hopefully that will apply to and help others.

good feedback.

Maybe use Taskkill via a script like a batch file that will do it auto-magically for you.

Example's of it's use I found via a search:

Beginning to think perhaps Piriform could fix allot of the won't clean and slow to clean issues in CCleaner by having it run Taskkill to end processes which are causing the issues, then re-start those processes when finished cleaning.
