I have and use an external ADSL Broadband modem, can I safely disable the internal modem through Device Manager, and will my PC benefit performance Wise? is it worth doing?
Internal Modem: Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem.
Location: PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 0,device 11,function 0)
If it's the dial-up modem, since you're using broadband connection, you may try to disable it and see the effects. I don't think it will boost any system performance

Hi Tunerz
Yes it is a dial up modem, I also need to know if I have to physically remove it if I disable it?
I think you only need to disable the driver. There could be cases in which your dial-up modem could prove its use so physically removing it can be a bad idea.
Yes disabling it though device manager should be all you need to do and i cant see how it would give you any performance increase from removing it. That said i removed the internal dial up modem from my old computer and found that i have not needed it or had any issues from removing it.

Hi AnGrA & Tunerz
Thanks for replying to my post.
It's probably not performance so much, I'm more interested in cutting down on startup programs, or processes that ain't necessary
This thing uses (2,640k Physical Memory & 28,996k Virtual Memory)! I no it's not a lot, however it's not doing anything
