Inconsistent application of Defragmentation Settings

I have noticed that when I've set up defragmentation settings for moving large files to end of drive during whole drive defrag (i.e., movement settings/min file size/file types) the following:

- Whole drive defrag ("defrag drive") the settings are adhered to;

- Quick drive defrag the settings are not applied; and finally

- if Advanced/"Defrag freespace" the settings are not applied.

Is this an oversight/bug? It would seem to me that defrag settings should be applied consistently in all 3 options (mentioned above).

Hi Endlesspath, and welcome to the forum.

There isn't anything wrong with the way Defraggler is applying it's settings.

"Move large files to the end of the drive" I believe only applies to a "Whole Drive Defrag" ...

A "Quick Defrag" is exactly that, and has it's own settings ...

And a "Free Space Defrag" is a different animal yet again in that it is trying to give you contiguous free space, and that feature actually has a setting in the main defrag tab to prevent large files from being moved around in the process. The why explained here ...

So basically, as I see it, each defrag option has it's own settings which do not apply to the other defrag options.

Hope that helps.
