In version 7, where is the nice cookie processing system

In both Health Check and Custom Clean you get to the Cookies Management by clicking the ‘Settings’ button at the top right.
In HC it only shows on the relevant scan results page:

In Custom Clean it’s slightly different, because there are other options in the Custom Clean settings than just cookies:

Hello nukecad,

I am using CCleaner 7 for Windows and there is no SETTINGS button on the right side under Health Check. In my version CCleaner 7 for Windows, the SETTINGS button is located on the left side of the screen at the bottom of the navigator column.

When I go into the SETTINGS (on the left side), there is no option for keeping cookies.

Cleaner 7 needs much better user interface! I need to keep selective cookies and the “new” display is terrible. Nothing aligns with the old version. By-the-way this reply area is overlaid with your “Thanks for contributing….” message unless window is expanded to full size. I also am concerned options and settings from old CCleaner are not carried forward into new version.

Compared to Version 6, this cookie management system really sucks. Most URL sites have multiple cookies and they do not start with the URL name. I am concerned that this system will miss an important setting. I am building my cookie allow list and then I will test and see if it really works. Also, what happened to the Registry cleaning option. This is the poorest attempt for an upgrade I’ve ever seen.

That is a different settings button for different settings.
Your screenshot of your Health Check is on a different page (after cleaning) from the one in my screenshot (before cleaning).
The Cookies setting button in the top-right is only available on that one page (before cleaning) in Health Check.
PS. I did say that it’s only on that page right above my screenshot.

At this time I have only updated the CCleaner Free version on my Windows 10 laptop.

When I updated it did carry over all my settings from the v6 ‘ccleaner.ini’ file - except that v7 turned on Automatic Updating by default.

However it may be that if you hadn’t told CCleaner v6 to save your settings to an INI file then they may not have been able to be carried over?

PS. I do notice that v7 doesn’t have the option to create an INI file for v7.

EDIT to add - If you do have a backup of your ccleaner.ini file the you can paste it into the new “…\Piriform\CCleaner 7” folder and v7 will then pick up what it can from it.
I have done that as an experiment and it picked up my Custom Clean ticks/untick and my Includes/Excludes.
I’m not sure what else out of the ccleaner.ini v7 picked up though, the settings are now all to scattered.

In v7 it is now a part of Custom Clean. so it works differently than it used to.

PS. It is recommended that you do not use any Registry Cleaner unless you are having a specific problem with the registry/
Cleaning the Registry will not speed up your computer in any way and only saves a few KB of space.
However cleaning the registry unnecessarily can ‘break’ a healthy computer.

I have heard from a couple of computer techs on YouTube that you should not use a registry cleaner.

Yes, I have read that. But the concern was screwing up the registry. I thought that an app solved that problem.
