I assume some of the file Header (or whatever) has been lost - It would be great if I could get the majority of the file to play
I assume that you are talking about Recuva so have moved this into the Recuva Help forum section.
If the recovered files are showing as 0 KB in File Explorer then it looks like only the filenames had been recovered and none of the data.
That can happen because the filenames are still saved in the Master File Table, which hasn’t been deleted/lost.
.
The answers to few questions may help us give suggestions on how best to try and get your files back now, if you can:
- How had the files been lost - deleted (by mistake), a power failure, a drive crash, something else?
- What media where you trying to recover files from - a HDD, SSD, USB stick, SD card, something else?
- Did you use the Recovery Wizard or the Advanced options?
- You did do the recovery to a different drive than the one that you were trying to recover from?
- What Windows version are you using? That shouldn’t make a difference, but it’s good to know.
- Are you using an Antivirus or other security software apart from Windows Defender?
