I opened CCleaner by mistake, but do not want it to close my browsers at this time. How do I close CCleaner instead? X at top right is unresponsive. Ctrl Alt Del to end task did not do it. There is no ‘exit’ option. It is annoying I can’t just contact help and ask… I’ll have to leave it open until I’m ready to exit the browsers???
Have you tried closing it from the TaskManager?
Yes. On Windows PC, Ctrl Alt Del opens the task manager. It was listed twice, and I selected ‘end task’ on both, but that did not close the CCleaner window.
Odd that it won’t close, but jut leave it open until you are ready to tackle it.*
One thing to note is that if you have cancelled a software or a driver update then the ‘X’ may not (should not) close it until the Cancel has undone what had been done before you clicked Cancel.
I don’t know why you believe that having a browser open or closed will make any difference though?
- When you do try to tackle it I suggest that your first step should be a ‘Restart’ of your computer. (Restart not Shutdown).
I was working on stuff on two browsers. CCleaner wanted to close them, but I was not ready to quit working on those sites. Once I was ready to close the browsers, I went ahead and let CCleaner finish as normal. I was just frustrated that I could not abort CCleaner, short of shutting down the PC, which would have lost my place on the browsers anyway. This is not the first time I’ve wanted to stop CCleaner before it closed my browser(s).
Your thought is that ''restart" would remind me, once it restarted, that I hadn’t closed the browsers, and it would allow me to open those exact sites? That could be; I’ll try it next time.
Custom Clean asks if you want to close an open browser - you can say no and CCleaner will skip the cleaning of that browser.
If you aren’t seeing that option then you have probably ticked the box that says ‘Don’t show me this again’ in which case it won’t ask you and will just skip the browser anyway,
Health Check always asks you:
simply untick the browser to skip the cleaning:
