hotmail not so hot

Does using ccleaner cause any known problems with hotmail. I ran the cleaner on a friend's computer and now she says she cannot get into her hotmail account. She is using IE7, windows xp. Thanks

Hi hotcomet, and welcome to Piriform.

It's possible for CCleaner to delete saved log-in information if the cookie relevant to Hotmail is deleted, but it shouldn't affect actually getting into the account.

Have a read here, as their seems to be a current problem with logging in to Hotmail:

Windows Live Hotmail is currently experiencing login issues. You may receive errors when attempting to login to your Live Hotmail account.

I have a Hotmail account, and have never had a problem caused by CCleaner.

Hope that helps.

She should update to IE8. It *might* resolve the problem, and it will make web developpers happy ;)

The web developers would be even happier if she went to a Gecko or Webkit based browser, but alas some people love their *trusty* old IE.

*cough* IE 9 will be out soon *cough*

But, as I understand it, IE9 will not be compatible with WinXP - read here.

Oh...I forgot that. Anyway, she should not keep IE 7 as it is outdated since a long time. (Besides, IE 8 requires no hacks from web devs - but let's stay on topic)

Thanks to all of you for your replies and suggestions. Thanks DennisD, I'll check out that website for hotmail problems.

I would never ever use IE again, regardless of any update

You are a blind fanboy, which is not a compliment <_<

clearly

What's that about? A bit unnecessary don't you think.

I wouldn't use IE either, and like ident, that's my choice.

Even though I'd never go back to IE, IE9 *looks* promising.

Not using a browser simply because an old version of it didn't taste your needs is quite ridiculous. I mean, at least test it before saying "I'll never use it again" (well, you can't really test IE9 yet, but...) ;)

I made no such comment for you to base that statement.

Actually, the IE9 platform preview is available for download on the Microsoft site. Its support for CSS3 & HTML5 is quite impressive.
