I just downloaded your program and ran it to clean my windows and registry.
After "fixing" the registry I cannot run Windows explorer anymore..
I backed up the registry using the option before making the changes and can
see the back up file and open it using a text editor, but cannot work out how
to restore the backed up registry and get my Windows explorer back.
I am using XP.
Can someone tell me how to restore the backed up version of the registry please.
Right-click on it and choose merge.
It must still have a .reg extention after it if you have changed the name of it for any reason.
Also have a read of the guide once you are sorted

I cannot right click it - because I do not have explorer to click it in - is there some other way to get it to merge?
Double clicking also works.
Perhaps you could do a system restore to just before you ran CCleaner. Could you try that?
This might help to get Windows Explorer back.
Click on Start, then Run and then Browse. It should open up with Desktop at the top showing what is on your Desktop Window.
Click next to Desktop, it should open up and show history, desktop and drives. Click on Drive C then Windows and look for explorer.exe
Taken from here. Link:
Or, according to the link, you can press Start > run > type "explorer.exe", without the quotes.
Hope this helps.

Explorer address is C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE - hope that helps you get your reg restored.
Well, thank you to all who have responded .. unfortunately the problem is not yet resolved.
Using run/browse .. I located and right clicked the .reg file and merged it in again.
But that did not solve the problem. Run explorer.exe gives me the same issue as
when I try to use "my computer".
I think a system restore might be the only way to get it back, but I am unsure as to how to do it,
and am unable to get into the Control Panel.
Can someone step me through how to restore the system?
Have a read here as it's all good info, then follow the steps for doing a system restore.( It's near the bottom, but have a read through first)
