Help. Can Ccleaner fix my problem?

Someone at annoyances.org recommended I check out CCleaner.

I'm wondering if it will help me solve my problem. Here's y problem:

Ok, I installed a trial version of InterVideo WinDVD 7 from here: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jsp

I used it a couple of times, forgot about it after a while, and then decided to use it again today. That's when I found out that my trial expired.

I tried to uninstall it by going to Add/Remove Programs in the control panel... and I got this error:

"Missing setup required files, please install with the original installation disc."

Now before you tell me to go to intervideo.com and ask for help...unfortunately, they don't offer support for trial products.

I looked in the program files folder where WinDVD is located, and there is no uninstaller. See what I think happened was this: during the first time I installed it, the installation finished & it was time to restart my pc for the changes to take effect. Then the installation screwed up and stopped responding, but the program worked anyway.

When it wouldn't uninstall the first time I thought that downloading the file from the website and installing it all over again to overwrite what I already had on my comp would maybe fix it. Once again, I get the message to restart my pc for changes to take effect. It stops responding, and I have to end task. Once I do that, I get this message:

WinDVD:

Setup failed to run installation:

The remote procedure call failed.

My computer is BRAND new. So I don't know what's going on or why this is happening.

So basically, that program is just sitting there, cannot be used unless I pay $49.99, and I don't even need it anymore. I don't plan on buying the full version of WinDVD 7.

I want all traces of this sh*tty program GONE.

Can CCleaner fix this?

CCleaner is not designed to recover your machine.

Many programs are known to not install or remove properly-bad programming.

I have WIN DVD6 from a purchased disc and it works as advertised, when I need to watch video.

Did you try using WIN XP System Restore-this sometimes works.

Now to your problem-you need to find ALL of the program's files in its folders. Then you need to run REGEDIT and very carefully DELETE each and everyone of the entries for WINDVD/Intervideo. IT is not necessary to get rid of all of them-just the ones you can actually see. If this is scary-then I strongly suggest one of the following- a. get an commercal uninstaller and hope that works. b. have your selling dealer's tech folks do it (for a fee probably) or c- and the eaasiest and safest is to use the manufacturer's recovery disc and redo the computer-this wipes everything you have done with a fresh setup. You can take all of your documentrs and other data off first. Good luck

Start > Run > services.msc > Standard tab

Make sure DCOM Server Process Launcher is enabled, and started. If not, double click on it and set the startup type to Manual, and then click Start to start it.

I think that installing trial version of software is a bad idea...

Do what djlizard says and if that dosent fix the error reinstall windvd over the install you have now. Then try and uninstall it.(that should repair the uninstaller)

You think everythings bad if its not free or open source. Guess what, its NOT! Some paid software is good and necessary. Why wouud you ever pay for a program without using it first? That would be dumb, at least with trial software you know what your buying. ;)

My advice is: do as DjLizard tells you to do.

It is sometimes very useful to be able to try some software before buying it. However, it can be very dangerous to let certain trials expire. I remember very well when I once installed some Symantec trial, forgot about it, and let it expire. Windows wouldn't boot anymore, not even in safe mode. No way to uninstall it; only reinstall Windows from scratch!
