Hi all. First time here. Signed up because I have a question, and I know that forums are a great place to find info and help. I'm not as computer savvy as most of you probably are, so I'll just ask. I'm using Ccleaner for the first time. After I hit the analyze button and just before I hit the clean button, I scrolled through to look at some of the files that the program found and decided to get rid of to clean my pc. They were photos and documents that I wanted to keep! So should I be doing something different with the programs settings or what? Untill I know what I'm supposed to do, I don't think I'll let it perform a clean. Any suggestions or info which might be basic for you all, would be like gold for me. Thanks.
Can you please generate that list again using Analyze, then right click the list, and choose Save to text file... Then paste in the contents of that text document into another post so we know it isn't just listing something like .LNK files from the Recent documents folder.

I think you just answered my question, Andavari. I believe they were .LNK files. See, I knew you guys would have the answer instantly. I was unaware that those .LNK's were the leftover junk from recent docs. So then it's safe to assume that getting rid of that stuff is not getting rid of anything important, such as the actual file. Thank you! I have much to learn.

Hi annox & welcome
I recently had a problem caused by selecting the (Secure file deletion) option in CCleaner settings.
I found that letting CCleaner empty the recycle bin of deleted "copies" of files that were not burned to a disk was not a good idea if (Secure file deletion) is selected
The files were "copies" in the "staging area" waiting to be burned to a disk I was making.
I had no room left on the disk, so I selected to delete these files from the staging area.
I later found that the original files in "My Pictures" folder could not be opened after CCleaner had emptied the recycle bin of the copies.
They were picture files that I luckily still had originals of on my camera
Normal file deletion works fine

Hi annox, and welcome to Piriform.
This is a good place to expand your knowledge. You'd be surprised to learn how much we don't know, but between us we can usually cobble together some useful stuff.
