purchased 2 yr ccleaner in 2022. just now found out i can upgrade ccleaner android via the original purchase since it's for 3 devices. it asks for activation code. supposed to be on original confirmation email, but that only has reference # and license code, neither of which works as the activation code.
help?

The links I posted tell you how to enter such a licence key to activate CCleaner Android, - in patticular the second one is only about how to do that.
You do do it within the google store, but you don't purchase anything there, follow the directions in that second link which show you just how to 'Use an Activation code' - the 'Activation code' is your licence key from Piriform.
apparently you don't understand. that doesn't work for me. license code doesn't work. reference # doesn't work.

What CCleaner version is your licence valid for? CCleaner Pro, CCleaner Pro Plus, or CCleaner Premium?
It needs to be for Pro Plus, or for Premium. to allow activation in Android.
Don't give your licence key here, but how many characters are there in your key (including dashes)? 20 or 24?
If it's 24 characters then is the very last letter a 'C' or an 'F'?
Although you have redacted the key in your screenshot (well done for that) it does look as if it may be a 24 character key ending with a 'C'.
If that <em>is</em> the case then it's a Pro licence and <em>not</em> a Pro Plus or Premium licence.

I see it now, in your screenshot it's actually been split into 2 lines with the 'HF' is on the second line.
I'm not sure why it's saying that it can't activate, and the messages it gives there isn't very helpful.
It might have been a temporary server/connection error somewhere in the chain, so I'd try again.
If it still doesn't work then I'd raise a ticket with support and ask them to check why it won't activate for you, it could be an issue with the key itself, or an issue at Google Store.
If necessary then they should be able to issue you with a new key without losing the time remaining on your existing licence.

Be aware though that support is taking <em>a lot</em> longer than usual at the moment, you should get an automatic acknowledgement with a ticket number (make a note of it) and an automatic email acknowlegement, but it may take a week or more before you get an emailed reply from a person.
PS. I do have an idea of what the issue may be here, and so I'll also flag this up to a staff member to check my suspicion.
i've tried it numerous times on my android phone & my android tablet. didn't work.
thanks. i already submitted a ticket. i got a canned response. forget about pro plus' "expedited" help. still haven't had a word from them....
finally got my answer from ccleaner. the 2-year plan i bought 7/22 didn't include android. the current plan does.

As you mention above, the 24 character P....F CCleaner Professional Plus were 3 PCs:

The new CCleaner Professional Plus licences as of August 2022 are multi-device. Customers who manually renew their legacy CCleaner Professional Plus (3 PC) licence via the "your expire soon, here's an renewal offer for CCleaner multidevice" offers will automatically receive a (20 character) CCleaner Professional Plus 3 device licence (PC, Mac and/or Android) when they do so. Anyone who bought a 2-year licence back in July 2022 would still have a little bit of time before they fall into this renewal window - if they'd like to get multidevice prior to that, the options are:

@DaveJustDave thanks for confirming my suspicion about the older 24 character keys not working to activate CCleaner Android, so that you need to change it to a 20 character key to be able to do that.
