When I use a 3 pass free space wipe, it stops about a third of the way through. This has happened to me on three different hard drives. Why is this? Does it ever actually finish? What's interesting is that a 1 pass wipe finishes 100% all the way through. I haven't yet tried the 7 or 35 pass options.
