Free AntiSpyware Programs

[/b] I'm looking for some GOOD FREE Antisypware programs. Please exclude Ad-AwareSE/Spybot Search and Destroy/and Microsoft Beta antispyware from list. I hope someone has some good suggestions.

Look here for some suggestions:

The two freebies I use as on demand are AVG as (formerly Ewido) and Superantispyware.

AVG

SAS

Am I gonna mention Sandboxie again.Yep, can't help myself. :)

IMHO FF with adblock and noscript extensions run through Sandboxie provides one of the best "first line" defenses against any Inet borne malware.

SB - FAQ

Humpty, have just done a bit of reading on sandboxie and have a couple of questions,

1 How does system restore fit in.

2 If you were surfing sandboxed would a windows update icon come up if there was one to download.

3 If using Erunt, would it be affected.

I gather it's not now compatable with 64 bit systems because of a microsoft update

Hard questions Hazel but I'll try my best.

System restore is turned off here as I use ghost images and a slave drive for backups so can't really give any advice but I would say there is no prob using sys restore as any changes made inside the sandbox are confined there.

Windows Updates must be done outside the sandbox to be installed to the system.

Using Erunt as a backup is not my idea as a decent backup as any additions made to the registry remain intact after a restore.Only keys deleted and or changed are put back but any additions remain.

If you decide to give Sandboxie a whirl have a think of the the things you can do with it that the author himself probably hasn't thought of as yet.

Like setting Sandboxies top level folder to another partition and installing different browsers to say Sandboxie No1 folder and another to Sandboxie No2 folder then switching between folders.

The actual installation of say Opera stays insde the sandoxNo1`folder and Kameleon inside No2 folder.

Bit hard to explain how to switch ATM as I'm still experimenting but it seems to be working.
