I Formatted an iSCSI drive on a Synology NAS.
In Windows 8 it's possible to attach to this drive by letter.
I started the free version of Recuva.
The scan process is still going on for a long time.
My questions are:
1. Does the free version work to recover all the files on this formatted drive?
2. On this drive I copies the files created by Hyper-V (Microsoft); Virtual Machine files.
Hopefully there is a way to recover them.

from a purely file recovery aspect both the free and pro versions are the same, except the pro has the added support of virtual hard drives.
which sounds like something you may need.
are you trying to recover from a VHD file (or similar)?
how big is the NAS?
what RAID type was it using?
how was it formatted?
I know if I format my Netgear NAS, which uses their in-house X-RAID2 technology, it'll rebuild the RAID and lose (beyond recovery) all data.
Yes, I want to recover VHD files and corresponding configuration files.
The Synology NAS is 2 x 4TB.
.
The RAID type : Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR)
On this NAS I created 2 iSCSI targets with LUN ( 300 GB + 600 GB )
The problem. occurs on the iSCSI target with LUN : capacity 600 GB.
It is formatted as NTFS

thanks for that info, it may help others to help you, cause you are now out of my experience. ![^_^]()
I don't have the Pro version so have never tried to recover from a VHD.
But (as a bearer of bad tidings) with the Synology using proprietary RAID technology I have a feeling you may be out of luck.
How was the data 'lost'?
A Format. ![]()
3 weeks of holiday is not good for me ![:)]()
I copied a few VHD files to the Synology NAS. They are just files!
The system is still scanning and finding a lot of files back ( free version).
It will take still more than 99 hours to complete.

quick format or low-level?
a Microsoft initiated format or from with the Synology menu system?
nothing like a holiday to scramble your brains! ![:D]()
sounds like you just want to restore the physical VHD, in which case the free version may work for you.
someone with first hand experience can enlighten me, but the Pro delves into a VHD file for individual file restoration I believe.
Just a quick format
and not from Synology.
Still scanning (77%).
