Is there any way to modify the properties or behavior characteristics of Flyover Popups? -- those small little popup windows that appear as your mouse passes over an icon, a file name or a link -- then disappears when you move away from it.
in Win XP, open windows explorer, then tools, then folder options, then view, then uncheck "show pop-up description for folder and desktop items", then apply, then OK.
Those are sure annoying. Thats the only way I know to stop them.
edit: well, OK, guess I addressed the wrong popups. Going back to the closet now. . .
edit#2: well, maybe not? Going back to the closet anyway. . .
If you're instead talking about something a website does that's probably controlled via JavaScript.
With Firefox you could use NoScript, or disable JavaScript when visiting an annoying website, or filter some JavaScript objects with Adblock Plus.
Note: Disabling JavaScript will make many sites unusable.

Actually, I was thinking more about Desktop and folder items than websites. But in either case, they can be annoying. I was hoping for a little more flexibility other than simply "enable" or "disable." Thought maybe there would be some settings to adjust sensitivity or display time -- or something like that. However, I may just try disabling for a while -- although at times, they are handy. Guess you can't have it both ways .
