Flash cookie erase too much! [IMPORTANT]

Hello,

Erase Flash cookie is cool and handy. But could become a nightmare :)

Because you can't select what cookie you want keep or delete.

And because, by default, you erase the most important cookie, setted by the player himself. The "main" cookie who remember the setting you want for your flash movies.

You could see the display manager here :

http://www.macromedia.com/support/document...manager04a.html

This manager show you, your settings. You can add security settings, by adding sites. You can choose default settings for each flash cookies ( size , ... )

Each time you select remove cookies, you erase this one. So you loose lot of work and information.

This is very important that you don't erase this cookie :

C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol

and this one too :

C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\#local\settings.sol

This is so important, that I think you must keep them by default. Only erase these 2 cookie if the user really know and want to do this!

Thanks

:)

Thanx externe !

I did have that problem the first time i ran CC, had to re-download Macromedia :(

i've been sorta afraid to run it again until i read all there is about cc

any suggestions would be appreciated

i also lost a few functions of my db power amp  that was a bit harder to fix !

I have tried this work around, and it works fine:

(1) Enable the Macromedia delete block, and run CC, which indeed will clean out the text cookies as well as the .sol files.

(2) Go to the Macromedia settings manager:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/document...ger.html#117118

Set everything to "none" or "Always Deny", and then exit. A new "master" .sol file with these settings will be created in the appropriate subdirectory.

( In my case:

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys )

(3) Go to CC, and uncheck the Macromedia block.

Macromedia Flash will work fine, but the "cookies" and subsidiary .sol files will now not be created.

This appears to be a fixable bug - the program should exclude the "master" .sol file and only delete the .txt cookies and the "sub." .sol files.
