I just downloaded and ran Ccleaner for the first time on a Windows XP Hewlett Packard.
I only ran the registry cleaner, and I only told it to fix what seemed to me to be the least serious problems, just as a test. Of course, I backed upo the registry first. Everything when fine, and I continued to use the computer for a while doing other tasks. THEN, I decided to reboot, just to be certain that everything is ok. So, I clicked on START and chose the RESTART option. When the computer rebooted, it was TOTALLY FROZEN, and would not even respond to an ALT CTRL DEL. In fact, even holding down the power button had no effect. I was kind of panicked. So, I UNPLUGGED the computer and then plugged it back in. When it rebooted the second time, everything worked fine. I ran ccleaner's registry scan again and fixed all remaining problems.
I am simply curious to know WHY it would have frozen that first time. Is it because I chose to reboot rather than to totally power down and then power back up?
Thanks!
