Finds error - regedit.exe missing, says it fixed it no errors, then rescan and finds it again!

I have a problem. About 2 weeks ago I used CCleaner as usual and then did a scan of the registry. It found a few errors including that regedit.exe was missing. When I said for it to fix it, it said it fixed it and found no errors. I then rescanned for registry errors and it once again said that it was missing - again I asked that it be fixed - it said it was fixed but when I ran again it said it was missing.

I went into my operating system - Windows XP and searched for that file but the search says that it couldn't be found. It has been a long time since I had to use regedit, but without the file, each time I keep running the registry scan I keep getting the same error and when supposedly fixed it isn't fixed.

Can someone tell me how to fix these issues?

Right click the item(s) and add to exclude list.

Located here:

C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe

If you still have your original WinXP install CD you can extract it from it, but really the System File Checker absolutely should not allow that file to go missing. Your system may need sfc /scannow ran on it to fix problems, the Microsoft instructions are here.

what is the reg entry? What is the file exactly.
