Find Junk Files ?

I have been using CCleaner for many years. Someone recommended I look at Find Junk Files. I downloaded it and ran an analysis. Surprisingly it discovered over 1000 junk files after CCleaner was run. This makes me very apprehensive and suspicious. Does anyone have comments about this?

We don't really discuss rival software on this forum, but I will check it out and get back to you via PM.

Each program has their own idea of good files or bad files you cannot really judge the abilities of CCleaner based on your results.

As for "Find Junk Files" I've never heard of it and personally with a name like that I wouldn't want it on my computer.

However I did some searching and found cnet's download page with lots of negative comments, i.e. deleting files it shouldn't and screwing up Windows.

Junk cleaners that primarily go by file extension and wildcards will undoubtedly find more physical files to delete than CCleaner however it doesn't make them necessarily better, in fact they can be rather dangerous if you allow them to delete the wrong thing.

but I will check it out and get back to you via PM.

I personally wouldn't even waste my time on it!;)

I followed up via PM, it was the recursive nature of the program causing it to pick up more .tmp files and such.

Pretty aggressive. Backups are not enabled by default. I may not be back for a while.

edit: survived.

edit2: +1 Andavari. I'll just stay w/ CCleaner for my few needs.

Over the years, I have tried tons of apps, registry cleaners, junk file cleaners, etc. None made much difference, and the only characteristic common to the aggressive ones was that they often crashed something.

I often try other cleaners and compare their results against CCleaner. Sometimes they turn up junk and sometimes I fear for my system's safety
