Why do you use filehippo as the site for downloading new versions? When one clicks the link to download CCleaner, it goes to a filehippo page that has at least 4 large Download buttons. Only one of these is for CCleaner, the others are for various types of adware and spyware.
Piriform own FileHippo.
Is this the page you are downloading from? I don't see any other downloads there (but I do use a host file)
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
You could also download ccleaner from here
Piriform own FileHippo.
They do? Wow, never knew that.
That's WhatsApp, SYSKEY and FileHippo in almost as many days - the things you learn on this forum....

if I go to the Piriform site (www.piriform.com), all its download buttons I found never took me to the FileHippo site.
I didn't know that either, but I can't find anything that supports that anywhere.
not that I don't believe hazel
If you find any info that I am wrong please post it.
Also post if you find any info I am right
I thought this had already been posted somewhere on forum.
I will try and get confirmation (or not as the case may be)
I didn't know either. Anyway Piriform is a company you can trust.
@OP: What web browser do you use? Try using Adblockplus with it. You will notice a world of difference.
Well I was wrong
They don't own FileHippo but just a have working relationship with them as a distributor of Piriform products.
I guess I better resign now
As to the issue the original poster mentioned an adblocker such as one like eL_PuSHeR mentioned would be a good idea, or even a hosts file.
The solution takes about 15 seconds of your time. Right click the download button and then click Properties. Then you will know if the link is legitimate.
Agree with the adblocker, filehippo is completely clean for me with ABP installed. Always has been
win xp here.
No ad blockers, no special host file (although those are good to have).
At Filehippo, search for CCleaner also calls up ads by Google for Webroot, Norton, Kaspersky and ESET antivirus.
No spyware nor adware visible . . . I've done it many times, never seen adware nor spyware.
Aw, gee, Hazelnut, that post might jeopardize your chance to win the Golden Laptop for 2014.
