False Positive Report - Driver Easy Identified as Security Loophole

Hi,

This is Marcus from Driver Easy. Some of our users have reported that Driver Easy is flagged as a security loophole by CCleaner, indicating that it's not the latest version. However, these users have already installed the latest version of Driver Easy. (Please see the screenshots below.)

To reproduce the issue, simply install CCleaner on a computer with Driver Easy installed. CCleaner will incorrectly flag Driver Easy as a security loophole due to a version mismatch.
You can download the latest version of Driver Easy here: https://www.drivereasy.com/header/DriverEasy_Setup.exe
We kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue. Thank you.

Hi Marcus,

I've given the CCleaner staff a poke about this for you.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We've made a change that should resolve the issue now.

The problem arose because our software updater was using the versioning information from the Driver Easy installer to identify the latest version, but retrieving the version info from the installed executable for the detection of what the customer had on their machine. As these don't match, it meant our system thought an update was available. We'll now be using the version info from the installed executable for both the latest version and the installed version.

Thank you for your patience,

Tom
