Facebook issue

Been annoying me for a while and can't find a solution so thought I'd ask my intelligent friends here ;) . I can't post links in replies to peoples comments on facebook (ie replying to a post in a group or replying to someone's status message etc). If I reply to a post with JUST a link, it will post but on refreshing the page will disappear. If I reply with some text and a link, only the text will be posted, the link will be gone. I have tried it in Firefox and IE and happens in both and have also asked a couple of friends to try it and they can't post replies containing links either. I've tried it with various links so it's not a problem with a specific link.

Anyone else have this? Is it a facebook fault, some setting causing it?

Well after some more experimenting it seems posting any link with no characters AFTER it is when it fails to post. If you follow the link with ANYTHING, even just a space, it posts the link successfully. Also it is only links with a backslash at the end or http at the front that disappear.

So if you copy the link direct from your address bar and post it in a reply - http://www.google.co.uk/ - the link will disappear. But put a space, punctuation or text after the link and it works.

Also both http://www.google.co.uk (no backslash at the end) and www.google.co.uk/ (no http at start) WILL work.

Not a solution as such but an easy workaround, can only assume it's a Facebook coding error <_<

I've experienced this too, only intermittently though. Glad you found a workaround :)

I always like to hover over a link and think about where it will take me and worry a bit before I click the link

I would never at any time click a link on Facebook,

In fact I terminated all connection with them years ago because of their lax cavalier attitude to privacy degradation,

i.e. many times a year they would "improve" privacy with more settings to control,

and every time they cancelled all existing privacy settings and reverted to their defaults of world wide publishing.

I terminated at my end - but they still send me invitations from people I have never had contact with.

Alan please bare in mind that JD Power was asking for advice and possible workarounds on a certain issue. He wasn't asking for your personal opinion on the program he is using :)
