Hi All,
When I cleaned my registry with CC, my Roxio/Sonic programs stopped working. In checking with Sonic, they advised that I reinstall and then exclude their registry entries from being cleaned by CC or any other registry cleaner.
I need to exclude
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Roxio, HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Sonic, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Roxio, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/Sonic
Went to OPTIONS, selected EXCLUDE, selected REGISTRY and a box was provided to enter registry data. I selected the HKCU option (and the HKLM option) and tried to add in the information above. However, no matter what I entered it would not allow me to "add" an entry to the exclusion list. THe ADD function was grayed out. I was only able to CANCEL.
I've been through the tutorial and help pages on this website, but can't seem to find what those entries should look like. What did I do wrong? Help. Thank you.
Carol
For some reason it doesn't allow excluding some registry keys, why I don't know.
There is however a work around, you simply manually add what you want to block into CCleaner.ini.
You'll have to do this first to make the CCleaner.ini file:
1. Start CCleaner.
2. Click Options, Advanced, then tick Save all settings to INI file.
3. Close CCleaner.
Now to input your exclusions:
1. Open "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.ini" into Notepad, or any other text editor of your choice.
2. These are the exclusions (just copy and paste them into the end of CCleaner.ini):
Exclude1=REG|HKCU\Software\Roxio
Exclude2=REG|HKLM\Software\Roxio
Remember to backup CCleaner.ini during the time you backup your files on your system to save you from having to redo the exclusions and other preferred settings.
Thanks so much. I'll give that a try.
