Empty HKLM:Run entry in the Austostart section

Hi everybody!

I tried the search wihich did not help me with my issue at all

i am new to this forum and hope to get some help with this issue:

I am running V 2.05.555 of CCleaner on a IBM T42,

and when i was checking my start menu entries in Autostart i realized that a totally empty

HKLM:Run registry key is shown..no programm, no installation path is displayed.

The complete HDD was cloned via Acronis True Image 9, after being installed with everything i need.

all updates are installed, the HDD is absolutely spyware/Virus- free, the complete system is in a brand new condition.

only thing that sucks is this empty regkey that never showed up before..

any ideas what causes this??

regards

Pat

I also have an empty HLM\...\Run I also use Acronis on Vista Business. AFAIK the key gets created even if there isnt any program keys stored there. I cant see any issue(s) with an empty key. Actually there are numerous empty keys I've noticed in general.

but where do they come from? i have the same config than i had before, no new programs, no changes. i run Win XP home sp2 but this empty key is sth i recognized for the very first time..

More than likely it was created by Windows and\or one of the Windows components. The key has existed since Windows 95. The real question is, why the key is being recognized now for the first time. Here is a KB article. Although dosent offer too much info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314866/EN-US/
