Duplicate Files cleaner

Hello.

I have a suggestion for improving CCleaner usage.

if you add "duplicate files cleaner" feature to CCleaner, it will be more useful.

What's your opinion?

Best regards

I'd have to say that this seems dangerous.

A dedicated Dup file checker is a better idea to use as it will allow you to say what file is ok to be duplicate and what isn't. CCleaner's Cleaning secion doesn't really provide for that particular selection

Ok you are right but there is another problem with your idea: now there are 4 application from Piriform and if you introduce a dedicated Dup file checker there will be 5 separate application. the problem is that these applications are not all-in-one; my suggestion is introducing a comprehensive application containing: CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy, and Dup file checker; in fact this application will be a tune-up utility.

I use CCleaner.

It takes less than 1 minute to cleanup up about 30 MB, mostly Firefox Cache.

How many hours will CCleaner take if it also trawls my 160 GB HDD looking for Duplicate files ?

I expect 30 MB of junk whenever Firefox is run.

How many MB of duplicate files are likely be purged ?

IS IT SENSIBLE TO EXPECT AND DEAL WITH THEIR REGENERATION EVERY DAY ? ! ! !

When an urgently desired bugfix/enhancement is developed and validated for CCleaner,

do you want its release and distribution to be delayed until successful completion of the revisions in progress for Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy, and Dup file checker ?

I use CCleaner every time the computer shuts down.

I have no use for the other Piriform products, and their incorporation with CCleaner would be pure bloat.

maybe some users like all-in-one application, the others can download separate applications such as ccleaner.

Duplicate files cleaner is not something they would want to add.

Here is why:

CCleaner is safe to run. But if they added a duplicate files cleaner, the integrity of CCleaner would be compromised.

Meaning, that while advanced users know enough they may avoid deleting duplicate "setup.exe" for example, that are NOT really duplicates but merely have the same name/download date etc, other users would not know & end up deleting critical files!

In addition, some files may appear to be duplicated, but may be the result of being listed once in the system 32 files folder, & another time in the system repair options!

This is the main reason they do not add it, simply because it would absolutely destroy the good ratings that CCleaner has because of the people who are just beginning in computers who do not have the advanced knowledge yet.

The integration, well, you might can try another program for now... Try the portable version of PStart to let you run things from your flash drive on a "start menu" style launcher.

Hope this helps!

Don

P.S. I do like the integration idea though, & I personally would like it if they had an option for downloading that, but they are busy, so I don't know if they would consider that for now.
