A SENIOR Church of England bishop was reportedly so drunk that he climbed into a stranger's car before falling out and hurting his head.
The Sun newspaper reported yesterday that the Reverend Tom Butler had been at a function in south London and had got into a car belonging to property developers Paul and Nicola Sumpter, neither of whom were acquainted with him.
Ms Sumpter said when she asked him if he had been drinking, he said: "I am the Bishop of Southwark. It's what I do."
He subsequently fell out of the couple's Mercedes and cracked his head on the pavement.
The couple said he walked away, leaving his personal organiser, crucifix and some papers.
