Driver updater tool

The driver updater tool is not detecting any driver updates during the scan, even though updates are clearly available.

What is telling you that?

You should not update drivers just because there is a ‘newer’ version.

That newer version may not be meant/suited for your machine at all, and installing it can cause your machine to stop working properly.
We have a post today from someone who’s sound and wifi have stopped working properly after he updated the drivers.

I prefer improved performance, bug fixes, enhanced compatibility, increased security, and new features.

Your choice, we can only warn you to be careful and check first that an offered driver is suitable for your machine.

The updater tool provided by your particular computer manufacture (if they do provide one) is usually safe because those do usually check what actual computer model you have.

3rd party updaters just offer you anything that is ‘new’, they haven’t checked if it is suitable for your machine or not or not.

“improved performance, bug fixes, enhanced compatibility, increased security, and new features” that sounds direct from some sales/marketing blurb, of course they don’t tell you about all the problems that can happen when you change (update) things when the change is not needed.

So again the warning: Just updating everything that a 3rd party driver updater offers you (without checking first if it is actually suitable for your machine) will eventually result in you breaking something on your machine.
Computer help fora are full of posts from people who need help to fix their computers after blindly using such updaters.

Don’t just take my word for it:

This is also a good discussion of the do’s and don’ts of driver updating:
