Driver scan

I think this feature would be nice to have, You could scan your computer for out to date or missing device drivers. And the reason why i think this would be good for ccleaner because out of date or missing drivers won't let the computer work to it's full potential.

It's a mile away from CC's primary function, and it's been done many times before.

But i think it would be a really nice feature to have. Lets say you were givin a dell latitude D800, You wiped it out and put a fresh copy of windows on there. You try to go on the internet through the cord and it doesen't work. You go to device manager and see you have multiple devices with no drivers, one of them being the ethernet controller.(Now assuming have a pc card)You run ccleaner and it tells you were to download the most up-to-date drives for your devices that need them. You do what is said, and your problems are fix. Then you go spread the news bout how good piriform programs are. I did when i got ccleaner.

Or you could go to Dell's site, enter your service tag, and get a list of all drivers for your piece of kit (you'd have to be pretty dumb if you didn't go to Dell's site). Or you could enter find drivers on Google and trawl through the 27 million hits. Or you could run any of the countless driver finder applications already out there.

There's really no reason why CC should do this, any more than a driver finder should clean up temporary files and fix the registry.

Hi Master15

Do you even have an idea of how many drivers exist?

There are thousands of them.

Do you know how hard it will be for the developers to keep track of each of them?

Let's keep CCleaner just that, a cleaner.

If you want drivers you can search the developer's site or google.

;)

Neat feature, but a freeware already exists for that called Double Driver. There is also a freeware called Driver! Backup. There is also a freeware called Driver Magician Lite.

The easiest way to make em portable is mark all your folders inside program files as hidden, & do the same in the system32 folder except the microsoft folder residing there.

Install the program & see if it drops any ocx/dll files there.

Use SFX maker of winrar to convert it to a single exe. You can grab icons with Batch Icon Extractor.
