Does Speccy save the Serial No info in the xml extracted?

Hello,

I have created a Powershell script in order to exctract information about computer configuration from computers in my organization from the xml file created from Speccy and save it in an excel file. As much as I have searched I did not find the Serial Number in the xml file I extracted but I did in the txt file.

Where can I find the Serial Number in the xml format?

Thank you!

As you are using Speccy in a business environment it may help you to contact Piriform directly

So, indeed it does not show this information about serial number in the xml, so I have to contact Piriform for such an issue?

I have a very old version of Speccy and it shows the serial number in the XML extract, about 10 down in the disk section. Does your version not have this?

Hello Augeas,

By saying disk section you mean storage section? I did not find any section titled as disk. My version is 1.31.732. I could provide an xml from a test machine to check for yourself.

Thank you!

Yes, uder Storage/Hard Drives the first disk is specified, and the tenth entry is Serial Number, between ATA Standard and LBA Size. My speccy is 1.25.674, which I downloaded a couple of years ago and tested, and didn't bother with it anymore. I'll download the latest vers and try that.

Yes, still there in the same place using Speccy 1.31.372

PS I am using the portable version, although I can't see that making a difference..

I think this is the drive's serial number and not the Windows Serial Number i'm looking for!

It should be under the Operating System portion of the XML.

Well, that just goes to show how I can mis-read a post. I'll have another look.

Have to go out now but it looks as if you're right, can't see my serial no at first glance.

if you are referring to the Windows serial number, then no, it is not listed in the XML file.

no reason it shouldn't be that I can figure.

the Serial Number Speccy shows for my PC begins with TY4.... searched for that in the XML and it's not there. Also no 'serial' string found under Operating System, but did find some under memory and disk sections.

be aware, this Serial Number under Operating System is NOT the Windows Product Key. TY4.... is not my Win10 key.

there's a thread on that little gem here somewhere that was discussed a while ago.

Thanks a lot for your responses. I figured out that the serial number is not listed under the operating system section of the XML.

I'm not looking for the product key. I just want the serial. I'll try something else to get my job done.

Thank you again!
