diminished cleaning

Hi,

Normally the CCleaner have taken away several hundreds of Mb every day, but after the latest update the result is only 15 or 19 Mb.

How come ?

R

could it be as simple as you or the PC just haven't done as much work as you have done previously when CC found more stuff to remove?

keep using CC as you normally would and over the next few days/weeks, see if a pattern emerges.

Are you sure you have closed your browser/s properly?

Have you got 'only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 24 hours' ticked in ccleaner advanced settings?

Is ccleaner installed to the same directory as your old verison? If you did a custom list of files and folders, is it still there?

Guess some starters here

What version of CCleaner

What version of Windows

Have you recently changed any habits, or perhaps unticked something by mistake?

Hi,

Thanks for the answers

I run the latest version of CC 3.24. 1850

and Windows Vista Home edition

CCleaner ask always if it should close FireFox before cleaning so it is always closed when the cleaning process is done.

I had the "only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 24 hours" marked in ccleaner advanced settings, but I have now changed that

and it did not change anything

CC must be in the same folder since I have only updated as usually, and it normally find its way to the right folder so I don't think that is a problem.

You could try reinstalling CCleaner and/or try the portable version instead?

CCleaner ask always if it should close FireFox before cleaning so it is always closed when the cleaning process is done.

Possibly a false conclusion.

If you launch Windows Task Manager then the Applications Tab will show if the "visible" Firefox has closed,

but you need to click on the Processes Tab to see if Firefox has been fully terminated.

Sometimes Firefox Addons fail to terminate and the Firefox.exe process continues to run,

and sometimes it is the plugin-container.exe that fails to close.

I am sure that CCleaner will attempt to close the Firefox Application,

but I do not know if it can go the extra mile and force the termination of the other things,

and I suspect forced termination would mutilate backups and operation of Addons such as LastPass and xMarks.
