Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Finnish Language Pack
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Language Pack - FIN
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 Language Pack - FIN
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0:n suomen kielipaketti
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1:n kielitukipaketti - FI
And what about
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430)
Thanks for any advice,
Sam the man
The .NET versions you have installed are only needed if a particular program requires them. I made the mistake once of removing v1.0 when v2.0 was released not realizing an application I had installed needed v1.0 to function. That's why I don't remove any of them anymore.
Those MSXML installations you'll need to leave alone in my opinon, some may even be security updates for MSXML.
It all depends on if other programs you have installed need a specific version of the .NET Framework. I only have version 1 installed since it came preinstalled on my PC, and I don't have any of the other versions installed since I don't have any programs that require them.
I also agree with Andavari on the MSXML installations. It looks like they might be security updates to it judging from the letters and numbers after it, like KB927978, and those usually come after security updates. Like Andavari said, I also think you should leave the MSXML installation alone. Unless you installed it, you don't know what programs might require it.
Hi Sam, and welcome to Piriform.
I was just doing a bit of research before I noticed Andavaris post, but I'll post it anyway as it's a bit of extra info.
Some folk can surf without any .NET at all, and some have the full whack up to 3.5 as you do. I have up to version 2.0 installed, and I haven't met anything needing the newer versions so far, but I probably will eventually, so you could be ahead of the game having them all. Difficult to say.
The other files I don't really know too much about, but I have 3 updates to version 4.0, and a version 6.0 Parser, whatever that is. This might help from an answer to a similar question on another forum.
If an average user needs MSXML depends on what software they have installed. Some software requires MSXML. Also, various versions can coexist together (I've had MSXML 3 and 4 installed before because different programs required different versions).
MSXML is Microsoft's library for processing XML files (extensible markup language). XML is the superset markup of XHTML (but not of HTML).
Hope that helps.
Thanks Icedrake, Andavari and Dennis.
I'll do as you adviced since I haven't got any major problem with them. I'm just looking ways to speed up my system.
BR,
Sam
